Lucca and Its Wall

We have finally put up some pictures of Lucca. It is a beautiful small city. The city center or ‘centro’ is surrounded by a medieval wall about 4 km long. The wall has been built up over the years to where now it is wide enough for a one lane road. However, only people and bicycles use it. Take a look at some of the pictures and you can see what I mean.
The city is full of bicycles. Walking around in the center you need to be constantly aware of them. Speaking of walking, we have no car, so we walk everywhere. From our apartment to the “wall” is about 12 minutes, then from there to other side of town is about 20 minutes. For long trips we take the bus, which runs every 10-20 minutes, depending on route, and costs almost nothing. We have been to numerous concerts, events, antique markets, food markets and more. Rarely does a week go by when you don’t have some free event to go to. We are having a blast and will start taking day trips around the Tuscany area. But first it’s the Christmas season and Christmas markets. Pictures and information on them coming soon.

For now, check out the Lucca photos.
